 UEFA Champions League is one of the most exciting tournament of Football. Every year, many teams top teams from different League compete here to be the best. Football fans all over the world eagerly wait for this tournament to see their favorite clubs compete. Top Teams from Spain, England. France. Italy, Germany face each other. No doubt everyone has a high expectation. After the group stage matches, every match has two leg. One is at home ground and another is in away ground. Goal scored in away ground has a greater value. Only the final match is one leg and that one leg decides the winner. 

Champions League take place every year. As the pandemic started, the tournament paused it's schedule. There were no matches for  almost five months. To keep the cycle going, they came to an agreement of having only one leg to decide the winner. The last matches played before the pandemic started were round of 16's first leg. So when the tournaments continued it had the second legs due. In the first match, RB Leipzig won against Tottenham. In aggregate, they continued to semis. Other results were, PSG won against Dortmund. Liverpool lost to Atletico Madrid. Manchester City won against Real Madrid, Lyon beat Juventus, Barcelona beat Napoli and finally Bayern won over Chelsea. A few of these were expected. Some were close matches. The shocker was lyon beating Juventus and Tottenham beating RB Leipzig. 

Now comes the Quarter Finals. Following the agreement, there were only one leg. Everyone was exciting for the matches. First match of quarter final was between PSG and Atalanta. Atalanta played really well and got an early lead. Then they played attacked and defended pretty well till the first half. In the second half they continued playing well. At the last minute of the game, Marquinhos scored a goal and they were even. The game was at additional time. At 90+3 minutes, Eric Maxim scored a goal which lead PSG to a dramatic win. Many people lost hope when PSG was lagging at 89th minute but this was the beauty of football. 

In the Second match, Leipzig started well with a goal at 50th minute. Atletico Madrid came to level at 71 minutes from a penalty. But a goal in 88th minute broke all Atletico's hope. This was the first shocker of the Quarter finals. Then came the most watched and most humiliating match for Barcelona. Barcelona faced Bayern Munich. Many of the Barcelona fan thought they may loose because of their bad form but surely no one has guessed this scorecard. Many people were excited about the match. The match started at 1 AM. I couldn't find any streaming link so I took my chances and went to my parents room. They were sleeping and i quietly turned the TV on and muted it. It was 1:10 and already the scorecard was 1-1. Bayern scored a goal in 4th minute and considered a own goal at 7th minute. At that moment, I knew this match was going to be a great match to watch. But soon after, Barcelona considered another goal and another. Within 28 minute the scorecard became 4-1. All the player has lost hope already and it was just to avoid humiliation. Barcelona did great and had not considered any goal till the end of first half. As the second half started, both of the team attacked and at 57th minute, Suarez scored a goal which gave a light of hope. But soon after, Bayern shattered the hope by scoring goal after goal. At 75 minute, Coutinho came on pitch. At 82 minute, Coutinho assisted Lewandowski to score his first goal. Then Coutinho scored two goals himself. It was a marvelous performance by him and all the player of Bayern. The final Scorecard was Bayern 8 - 2 Barcelona. 

The last match was Manchester City VS Lyon. Most of us guessed it would be Manchester city's night and we will see Manchester city fight against Bayern. But 2020 still had a few surprises left. Lyon scored first and  finished the first half in lead. In the second half, De Bruyne's goal made it level. But not for long. A beautiful through ball to Moussa Dembele gave lyon another lead in the game. At the last 10 minutes, Jesus got a chance which he couldn't utilize and Starling got a chance of the decade which he missed. Starling got a open goalpost and a perfect cross but somehow he chipped it over the bar. If he would have scored, the game would have been tie but after he missed, Manchester city lost their hope and considered another goal from dembele which lead to a 3-1 defeat for Manchester City.

After all this drama, we got the four Semi Finalist. In the first match PSG will face Leipzig  and in the second match Bayern Munich will face Lyon. The final can be between PSG and Bayern but it is 2020. Anything can happen and we all can still get surprised. So let's see and enjoy the game of football.
