RAJSHAHI During COVID-19 (Day Two) | MysticPosting

 The previous afternoon, I had reached Rajshahi. We were tired so couldn't do much. We came home early and slept. Although we slept at 4 in the morning, it is considered early in our bachelor life. We generally sleep after the sun rises. Trust me, we don't want to stay that late but time flies when you are chilling with your squad.

The next day we woke up at 12. Meanwhile, another of my senior, Shitab bhai (ME'16) had also joined us in Rajshahi from Naogaon. After freshening up, we noticed we didn't have drinking water. Generally, in our home we take filtered water from a guy who provides us with 20 liter bottle. But as I called him, I came to know he was in a EID vacation and won't be able to provide us with water for one more day. Luckily, I had one junior who's house was just around the corner. So i called him and ask him to fill some bottles with drinkable water. As a first semester boy, he did the job in a instant. It feels good to be a senior xD

After solving the water problem, we realized we have to deal with a bigger problem. The problem was finding food. It is the biggest struggle of bachelor life. As we went after EID and the universities are closed, most of the hotels were shut down. Also, we were keeping in mind to avoid unhealthy hotels. Which left us with only a hand full of options. The first one was MIZAN's . MIZAN's is a restaurant run by one of our senior from ' 13. They used to sell one of the best quality Rice items. So we went there to grab lunch but unfortunately during the lockdown they had stopped cooking rice. The only available dishes was Chicken Chaap and Naan. We thought, having chicken chaap and naan in luch was not a good idea. So we left. 

The second option was Shukhi's Rannaghor. It was also a quality hotel but it gave a home like environment. It was also run by a female entrepreneur. Apu is very strict to her rules but adore us like his younger brother and takes our order herself. We went there to grab our lunch but it was also closed. Yes, I didn't had her number and that's why we were disappointed.  Shukhir Rannaghor was in Bazar so we thought of other hotel options. If those were closed too, we can simply go to a restaurant and grab lunch too.

The third option was AZIZ's Canteen.  It is a hotel but with a friendlier look. Food quality is decent. We went there and luckily it was open. We sat down and ordered our food. We got our food in a short time and started eating. We were having food after almost 19 hours. So we ate a lot. This is also another fact of bachelor life. We almost never tend to do our breakfasts. Sometime we don't have money but most of the time we are just sleeping in the morning. 

After grabbing our lunch, we came home and took some rest. It was extremely hot in Rajshahi so roaming around in daylight is not a pleasant choice. As the sun was setting, we went to TALAIMARI SHOHIDMINAR and sat there. It was beside Padma and was very crowded. People came here with family and friends. They were walking, chatting and was eating street foods as if everything is normal. There was no fear of COVID-19. Kids were playing football and was quarreling over silly matters. We went to a side where there was no crowd and was enjoying the fresh air of Padma. 

In the evening, We went to Monnafer Mor and met some more shopkeepers. We had some gossips about last few months and got some spare food for the night. While returning we also stopped to a place called Burger Hut. This place is famous for 25tk burgers. The burgers are totally worth the price. We got our burgers and parceled it.Then We walked home. In the midway we found one of our most favorite Shopkeeper Sumon bhai. He used to have a well spaced TONG but for some reason he lost his place. He still own a Tong but it was not that good. Still we sat there and had some tea. After a while, we left and finally reached home and realized, it was Champions League Night. We grabbed our foods and set up our laptop. We watched the whole match together and it was pretty fun. Though, Real Madrid and Juventus both lost! 

This day was not anything special. It was a regular day in Rajshahi for us. But that's the beauty of it. This day made us relive the exact lifestyle, we live in Rajshahi after 4.5 months. Skipping breakfast, searching hotel to eat, gossiping with shopkeepers and other familiar peoples, watching Champions League. These all were our daily routine. It all seemed so boring at times but after this long break, everything felt so amusing. 

At night, when I went to sleep, I realized, one of the most important reason I like Rajshahi more than Dhaka because I have my own identity here. In Dhaka, as i live in Quarter, I am known as my father's son who reads in Rajshahi. But in Rajshahi, the people who knows me, knows me by my name and my identity. As we grow up, we want to create our own identity. I have my identity in Rajshahi. That's why I like it here.
